One person was injured early on Wednesday morning when the truck ran off the road and crashed in a tricky spot, creating difficulties for first responders and crews attempting to clear the scene.
The crash was reported at approximately 2 a.m. on July 10 in the area of Democracy Boulevard, resulting in the overturned tractor-trailer and HazMat situation due to leaking fuel, leading to lane closures in the area.
The driver suffered undisclosed injuries.
According to the latest update from the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination Program, as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, one lane was still blocked, with the two left lanes cleared.
Delays were reported as far back as the Inner Loop near MD-190 (Exit 39/River Road).
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
